Working with Durham University

We are delighted to have had working with us students from Durham University.

Liam Wood, a student on the Durham University MSc in New and Renewable Energy, worked with us in 2017-18 on possible ways to reduce head loss in our inlet channel, which could potentially improve power output. His unpublished Durham University MSc Project report is entitled Model, Analysis and Improvement of a Hydro Turbine Intake System (2018).

Ben Jones, a student on the BEng General Engineering degree, worked with us in 2018-19 following up Liam’s work and also investigating the possibility of extending the length of the bladed section of the turbine screw, as another approach to increasing output. His unpublished Durham University BEng Project report is entitled Model Analyses and Performance Improvement for a small hydro-turbine system.

Thanks to Liam, Ben and their supervisor Dr Lian Gan for their work.
