The turbine at Ruswarp is at the South end of the Ruswarp dam. It’s a lovely peaceful spot, and recent local wildlife sightings include Cormorant, Goosander, Heron, Kingfisher, Seal and Otter.
There are now some opportunities for volunteering and enjoying the surroundings without taking on a regular and technical commitment. From time to time the site needs some work doing (track clearing, tree pruning, scrub clearance, balsam pulling and so on), and Esk Energy is looking to recruit people who might be interested in tasks of this sort once or twice a year. For more information, or to register an interest, please get in touch.
We held our second Friends of Ruswarp Hydro Working party on 8th November 2018. As well as getting some exercise whilst we worked on site we were lucky to see a kingfisher fly past. We then enjoyed a drink at the Bridge Inn after.
