Turbine Breakdown
The turbine had to be shut down on Friday 20th January 2023 because the bearing at the bottom end of the turbine failed.
This is not uncommon for archimedes screw turbines and ours has lasted much longer than most.
Fortunately we discovered it before any major damage was done but it does mean we will be unable to generate until we can effect a repair.
Celebrating 10 years of generation
On the 12th December we celebrated 10 years of generation with a presentation and buffet lunch for shareholders, funders and supporters. This gave us the opportunity to thank all those who have made the Whitby Esk Energy – Ruswarp Hydro community energy scheme possible and share stories of our journey.

We will be holding our AGM online again this year on Tuesday 6th September, starting at 7:30pm.
The formal notice of the AGM and papers will be sent to shareholders nearer the time.
