Visitors from Canada

On 22nd February we were visited by Associate Professor David Lubitz and Scott Simmons from the School of Engineering, University of Guelph, Canada.  David has a research programme on microhydro turbines. The long term goal is to develop improved tools for designing Archimedes screw generator installations optimized for their sites.
They came to take a variety of measurements that will be combined with some of our data in fluid dynamics computer modelling. They took some additional measurements of our installation to add to data from the drawings, measured the flow velocity across the inlet and video recorded the turbine when operating to obtain more information about water flows and losses.
