Taken: Saturday 7th Sept 2013 Tour of Whitby Esk hydroelectric turbine. The hydroelectric turbine on the River Esk at Ruswarp started generating and exporting energy in December 2012. The turbine will produce on average 160,000 kWh of green electricity every year enough for 45 houses and saving approximately 1,400 tonnes of carbon in the first 20 years.
